Computer to plate, abbreviated CTP, is a technology used in printing that allows an Desktop publishing generated images to be transferred directly to a printing plate. Previously, under Computer to film (CTF) technology, wherein the computer image was output onto standard photographic film before being transferred to a printing plate.
CTP allows for greater sharpness and detail in the printing plate as well as time and cost savings over CTF.
