Standard hours is the time, in hours, a skilled worker would complete a particular job under average conditions. It is used for efficiency analysis and as an input in standard costing.
Standard hours are not the average workday or workweek – for instance, 40 hours of work per week might be considered the standard number of work hours, but “standard hours” is a technical term in cost accounting.
